Autistic Spectrum Condition > Consultation
|
ASC consultation People with ASC often feel as though some form of ‘translation’ is needed in order for them to communicate effectively with those around them. Autism is a culture in itself, with different priorities and different use of language. In order to ease the way for people with ASC to use mainstream services, and to help public institutions meet their responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act 2005, which covers people with ASC, we offer consultation to a wide variety of services.
We aim to work within the parameters of what is possible whenever we offer a consultation to organisations so long as the overall aim is to make their services accessible and effective for people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions. The types of support we offer includes making written information accessible, training front line staff, establishing routines, managing expectations of the autistic person, making environments autistic-friendly, checking levels of understanding, using pictures and time lines, and so on. The basis for our consultation work is always Solution Focused Approaches, using our expertise in autism to work towards the customers preferred future. |
